The University of Florida women’s swimming and diving team dominated the Florida Atlantic Owls by winning 159-115 during a meet at the O'Connell Center on Saturday. The Gators placed first in every event.

“Overall, it was fairly good. We haven’t competed in a swim meet in a long time so it’s just an evaluation to see exactly where we are, see who’s rusty, who’s sharp and that,” said UF associate head coach Martyn Wilby.

Sophomore Alicia Mathieu started the Gators’ success with her victory in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:55.77. Teammates Sharla Milne (10:04.36) and Molly Dubrasky (10:09.30) followed Mathieu to sweep the event.

Sarah Bateman would win the 200 free by clocking in at 1:49.07. Fellow Gators Natasha Fung (1:49.35) and Corinne Showalter (1:50.65) would follow to give the squad another sweep.

Florida would get another 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breast with Sarra Lajnef, Julia Treible and Teresa Crippen. They stopped the clock at 1:05.17, 1:06.29 and 1:08.32, respectively.

Anna-Lisa Pold would place first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:02.15. Teammates Rebecca Rainer and Summer Stephens would follow with times of 2:02.70 and 2:03.43, respectively. Jamie Bohunicky would pick up the first of her two victories on the day in the 50 free with a time of 23.52. Kaitlin Frehling would just miss out on the win with a time of 23.57. Shelby McLean would come in third and stop the clock at 24.88.

Bohunicky captured her second victory on the day in the 100 free (50.45). Crippen and Kirsten Smith would follow and touch the wall at 50.69 and 52.66, respectively.

Elizabeth Beisel was victorious in the 100 back by touching the wall at 56.22. Trish Regan came in first in the 200 back with a time of 2:01.14.

The Gators swept the 200 breast with Hilda Luthersdottir victorious with a time of 2:17.36 with Beisel (2:19.30) and Treible (2:21.85) following. Dubrasky came in first in the 500 free with stopping the clock at 4:51.19. Teammates Nagy and Fung followed with times of 4:56.48 and 4:59.45, respectively.

The women’s relay teams were dominant as well. The team of Bateman, Luthersdottir, Zalewski and Frehling combined to hit an NCAA “B” mark time with a 1:42.32 in the 200 Medley.

In the 400 freestyle relay Fung, Bohunicky, Crippen and Bateman teamed up to win and stopped the clock at 3:23.19.

On the diving boards, Kaylee Dobakc won both the one-meter and three-meter competition with scores of 293.93 and 353.63, respectively.

The Gators will hit the pool again at the Stephen C. O’Connell Natatorium next Saturday for their home finale and senior day. They will take on SEC foe Auburn.
