On May 21, 2011, the Florida lacrosse team lost to Duke in the Elite Eight to end its miracle run of a season. Junior attacker Kitty Cullen still remembers the dispirited feeling she had during the postgame press conference.

“I remember sitting in this exact same spot last year,” Cullen said, “Just being so upset thinking we could have done this, we could have done that, we could be going to the Final Four.”

Fast forward a year to Saturday’s game and Cullen is sitting in the same position. She just played an Elite Eight game and was sitting down as reporters asked questions, but this time Florida is going to the Final Four after defeating Penn State 15-2 in Saturday’s NCAA Lacrosse quarterfinals at Dizney Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.
