UF freshman shines through adversity

Her first time stepping foot on U.S. soil was Aug. 17, 2011.

Having signed to play basketball for the University of Florida, Andrea Vilaro Aragones traveled the 4,642-mile distance from her home in Barcelona, Spain, to Gainesville.

However, just three months into her freshman season, before the season began, she was forced to make the trek back to her hometown — This time with a heavy heart.
