ShareRain delays UF women’s tennis
The Florida women’s tennis team will have to wait another day to try to get their 101st straight home win. Their match against Kentucky was postponed to Monday at 12:30 p.m. after uncooperative weather.
The Gators were able to sweep the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. All of the doubles matches were very competitive. Sofie Oyen and Allie Will were the first to finish. It was five all before Oyen and Will pulled away from Khristina Blajevitch and Jackie Stiles to win 8-5. Lauren Embree and Joanna Mather took care of business against Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff and Caitlin McGraw in an 8-4 contest. Alex Cercone and Olivia Janowicz were triumphant against Marni Venter and Cece Witten, 8-6.
After the doubles matches were completed there was a 34 minute rain delay. The Gators and Wildcats were able to get in a few singles games before the rain returned.
