Profile of Florida’s Amanda Butler

Florida fifth-year coach Amanda Butler is tough and intense in leading the Gators women's basketball team. / Gator Country photo by Tim Casey

She took over as head coach of the Gators in April of 2007, but her passion and intensity, what have become staples of the Florida program, go back to her playing days as a Gator from 1990-1994.

Never missing a game in her career, she once played against Florida State less than 24 hours after taking 10 numbing shots in the face to reset a broken nose she suffered in practice the day before.

She led Florida to its first two NCAA Tournament appearances in program history in 1993 and 1994.
