Gators softball advances to finals

Florida’s softball team needed extra innings on Friday to give coach Tim Walton his 500th career victory, making him the fastest active coach in the Southeastern Conference to reach this feat.

His 500th victory is a sweet one for coach Walton because with the win, the Gators advance to the SEC Championship for the first time since 2009.

Third-seeded Florida beat second-seeded Tennessee 2-1 in eight innings after a pinch-hit home run by freshman Bailey Castro.
