 |  September 14, 2012  |  0 Comments

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The No. 22 University of Florida soccer team (3-3-1, 0-1 SEC) dropped its 2012 Southeastern Conference opener 2-1 at Kentucky (6-1, 0-0 SEC) Friday evening in front of a UK Soccer Complex crowd of 1,348.

A penalty kick from each team provided all the scoring of the opening half. Florida was awarded a penalty kick in the 12th minute when the senior All-American Erika Tymrak was fouled in the box. Fellow senior McKenzie Barney successfully converted the first PK of her collegiate career. It was the first PK awarded to the Gators this season, with the last coming Sept. 25, 2011 at Tennessee.
