Gators ready for NCAA Championships
The University of Florida gymnastics team’s method has been to start slowly and gradually progress throughout the year — so they peak at the right time. It looks like coach Rhonda Faehn has helped her team do exactly that as the 2012 Florida Gators (17-1, 5-1 SEC) compete in the NCAA Championships this weekend.
The Gators head into the national championship ranked as a No. 1 seed.
This is only the second time in all of Florida’s 30 NCAA Championship appearances that it entered as the top seed. The last time the Gators saw the No. 1 ranking this late in the season was in 2007 when they shared the No. 1 seed with Utah.
“We are thrilled to be coming back to Duluth, Georgia where we had our SEC Championship just a short while ago,” Coach Faehn said. “We are excited to be apart of it and it is going to be another spectacular competition. We are thankful for Duluth and the Gwinnett Center for putting this on.”
