ShareGators advance to NCAA championship
Monday’s match was a clash between two programs boasting double-digit win streaks.
Florida entered having won 20 consecutive matches. Duke, not too shabby itself, came in on an 18-match win streak.
But as Florida’s Alexandra Cercone watched Duke’s Mary Clayton push the final shot of the day right and out of play, it was the second-seeded Gators women’s tennis team that extended its streak, topping third-seeded Duke 4-3 in the semifinal of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships in Augusta, Ga.
Florida will face top-seeded UCLA for the national title on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
