Frustrated Florida hammers FGCU

 |  May 19, 2012  |  1 Comment
Florida's players said they're rallying behind lone Gators senior Michelle Moultrie, who was a combined 5 for 7 in two wins on Saturday in the NCAA Softball Regional in Gainesville, Fla. / Gator Country photo by Mike Capshaw

Florida took out the frustrations of the past 24 hours on the ball Saturday.

The Gators hit and homered their way to a pair of victories against Central Florida (7-1) and Florida Gulf Coast (6-2) to keep their season alive for another day in the NCAA Softball Regional in Gainesville, Fla.

They had 20 hits and six homers in the two games combined. The 14 hits vs. FGCU in the nightcap were the most since a March 3 win against Gardner-Webb.

The Gators (48-12) must beat South Florida twice — beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday — to advance to an NCAA Super Regional that also would be played in Gainesville’s Pressley Stadium, if the Gators achieve the feat.
