Florida softball to host NCAA Regional

For the tenth season the Florida Gators softball team will host a NCAA regional, but this year the Gators welcome familiar foes to the friendly confines of Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

Florida, the No. 5 overall seed, begins its quest for the elusive first-ever national title in regional play against Florida Gulf Coast, Central Florida and South Florida.

The NCAA announced the 2012 tournament field Sunday night. The Gators went a combined 2-2 in the regular season vs. their regional opponents. This marks the thirteenth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the eighth-straight for Florida. UF softball oach Tim Walton has reached the tournament in each of his seven seasons at Florida.
