ShareFlorida beats Auburn to open tourney
A day after being named a First Team All-SEC selection, Jennifer George notched her conference-leading 15th double-double. Her 12 points and 14 rebounds helped Florida beat Auburn 70-60 in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Thursday.
“The reluctant hero,” as coaches have called George, spearheaded a Gators offensive attack that was more overpowering than it was efficient.
Florida shot just 23-65 from the floor, including 4-18 from the three-point line, but the Gators battered Auburn on both the offensive and defensive boards.
