Faehn: Gators ‘so close’ in title bid

As many guessed it would, the NCAA Gymnastics Championship in Duluth, Ga., came down to the wire-putting pressure on Alabama and Florida to deliver strong marks in the final rotation. And like many guessed it would, the difference between first place and second place was going to come down to tenths a point. In this case .075 to be exact.

“So close,” Florida coach Rhonda Faehn said. “I’m so proud of the athletes and so proud of this team because they competed their hearts out. We couldn’t have asked for any more – for them to go out today and compete as aggressively as they did and compete with such passion. Just under a tenth difference is extremely painful and it’s hard but at the same time I look at what our athletes did accomplish and how incredible they did. I’m super proud of them.”

The Crimson Tide edged out the Gators 197.850-197.775 in The Arena at Gwinnett Center in the NCAA national championship to claim their program’s sixth national title.
