Florida Gators softball recap for the Ole Miss series

GatorCountry.com brings you this week’s Florida Gators softball review as the Gators swept a weekend series. In this recap we will break down the past week’s games, plus name a player of the week from the past week.

The Gators rebounded from a bad weekend against Alabama to win four straight games, including a weekend sweep of Ole Miss on the road in Oxford, Mississippi,

Florida is now 38-3 on the year and the Gators are now 12-3 in the SEC, which is the best record in the conference.

Results:

  • Florida defeated UCF 3-1- winning pitcher Kelly Barnhill
  • Florida defeated Ole Miss 8-0 – winning pitcher Delanie Gourley
  • Florida defeated Ole Miss 6-1 – winning pitcher Aleshia Ocasio
  • Florida defeated Ole Miss 4-2- winning pitcher Kelly Barnhill

 

Offensive leaders:

Sophomore Kayli Kvistad continued to stay hot at the plate as she had two big home runs this week against Ole Miss. Kvistad had six hits and six RBI’s while scoring three runs.

Freshman Amanda Lorenz also had two home runs this weekend while driving in four runs. Lorenz scored three runs and had four hits from the clean-up spot.

Senior Aubree Munro broke out of her slump by hitting two home runs this weekend against Ole Miss. Munro had four hits and three runs this weekend.

Pitching:

Tim Walton and Florida Gators softball pitching coach Jennifer Rocha threw all three of the Gators pitchers again this past weekend. The three headed-monster of a rotation now all have 10 wins this year.

Sophomore Aleshia Ocasio picked up a win and save against Ole Miss over the weekend while pitching 9.2 innings. Ocasio gave up just one run while striking out nine during her two outings.

Freshman Kelly Barnhill picked up two wins while pitching 9.1 innings and giving up just two runs. Barnhill had 16 strikeouts during her two appearances and is now 14-0 on the year.

Junior Delanie Gourley picked up a win while pitching six innings of shutout ball. Gourley is now 11-2 on the year and struck out seven in the win.

 

Player of the week:

Kayli Kvistad had two home runs and six RBI’s this weekend against Ole Miss while hitting in the three-hole. Kvistad also had six hits.
