Florida Gators soccer defeats Tennessee 2-0

The 12th ranked Florida Gators soccer team (7-3) ended their SEC losing streak on Sunday night against the Tennessee Volunteers (6-5) in a 2-0 win at home. At least one Florida team found a way to beat Tennessee this weekend.

The first half of play did not amount to much for either team. The Gators outshot the Vols 12-2 in the first half and finished the game with a 24-8 shot advantage. Both teams came out much more aggressive in the second half, but it was Florida that came away with the advantage.

Florida had been threatening all night, but finally scored in the 68th minute of play. Savannah Jordan was assisted by Samantha Chung to slide one past the Tennessee goal keeper. Sammie Betters gave the Gators some insurance in the final minutes of the game as she scored her first career goal on a strike from 23 yards out.
