Florida Gators lacrosse signs 13 players in 2018 class

Gainesville, Fla – The University of Florida women’s lacrosse team has added 13 new members for the 2019 season.

Emerson Cabrera, Maggie Corbo, Natalie Dizney, Maddie Ellis, Annie Gillis, Charlotte Harmon, Hannah Mardiney, Maddie McMaster, Catherine Moriarty, Lexie Morton, Sarah Reznick, Maeson Tydings and Emma Wightman have all signed their National Letters of Intent and will join the Gators for the 2018-19 academic year.

This class continues an impressive run of recruiting under Head Coach Amanda O’Leary, as the Gators secured NLIs from four ILWomen Top-40 recruits.

“These 13 young women are a terrific addition to this program, and will be a great representation of the University of Florida,” O’Leary said. “Our signees will make an immediate contribution both in the classroom and on the field. It’s very exciting to see the Gator lacrosse brand spreading across the country.”

* Has scored 191 goals and 45 assists thus far in her high school career at The First Academy

* Plays club lacrosse for the Lax Maniax under Sarah Burlingame

* Also a part of TFA’s soccer and cross country teams

* Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Maddie Ellis – Midfield – Vero Beach, Fla.

Charlotte Harmon – Attack – Darien, Conn.

Hannah Mardiney – Attack – Lutherville, Md.

Maddie McMaster – Midfield – Seattle, Wash.

* Totaled 114 goals, 32 assists, 177 draw controls, and 103 ground balls in three years of high school lacrosse

* Also plays basketball, soccer, and volleyball

* Set a soccer school record for goals-per-game

* Plays club lacrosse for the Seattle Starz under Lyndsey Gillis

Catherine Moriarty – Defender – Westfield, N.J.

* Did not begin to play lacrosse competitively until high school

* A member of the National Honor Society

* Lived in Switzerland for three years while in elementary school

Lexie Morton – Attack – Atlanta, Ga.

Emma Wightman – Defender – Basking Ridge, N.J.

* Recorded 49 goals, 34 assists, 158 ground balls, 79 caused turnovers, and 99 draw controls during her time at Ridge High School

Andrew Spivey
Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting. After interning with Rivals for six months, he joined the Gator Country family as a recruiting analyst.
