After the top-ranked Gators' 56-6 win over Troy on Saturday, Urban Meyer said this week's Tuesday practice, in preparation for Tennessee, was going to be the toughest the players have seen.

The star: Lawrence Marsh came out of nowhere to be a dominant player in the middle of last season. It helped that he had a middle linebacker pushing him to get better. Brandon Spikes needs protection from his tackles and Marsh provided it. He started the season with a pair of sacks against Hawaii and had four tackles in the SEC title game...
A year removed from the miracle on 34th Street where he took an unproven defensive line at the intramural fields where the Gators do their two-a-days in August and transformed them into one of the best in the Southeastern Conference, Dan McCarney is trying to go one up on himself. Last year he transformed Florida’s front four into a more than competent unit. For his 2009 encore, he plans to turn that group into one more than capable of domination.
