Swanson enjoys official Florida visit

 |  January 23, 2013  |  0 Comments

Florida hosted several official visitors on campus this past weekend, and one of those was Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson fullback Kennard Swanson.

The 6-foot, 245-pound Swanson de-committed from LSU in December and said Florida was his leader. On Friday, he finally got to visit the Gators.

“He had a good visit to Florida this past weekend,” Lake Gibson coach Keith Demyer said. “He went with both of his parents, and they both said they loved the visit and the campus also.”

Before the visit, Swanson had said he wanted to commit this weekend, but that didn’t happen due to an off-the-field situation that needs to be handled first.

“Coach (Will) Muschamp told him right now he has a non-committable offer,” Demyer said. “They want him to get his grades up. We just got his grades back for the first semester and they were good, but he needs a higher test score. He will take the SAT this Saturday and the ACT on Feb. 9.”

Right now, Swanson may not have a committable offer, but that doesn’t mean the Gators aren’t interested in him.

“They told him they will save a scholarship for him,” Demyer said. “So if his grades are in order, he will sign with them, but they want to make sure that is clear first.”

Swanson has said several times that the Gators were his leader, and that this still the case, according coach Demyer.

“He really likes Florida a lot, and that’s where he wants to go,” Demyer said. “He has had other schools call him and offer him and ask him to visit them on an official visit, and he turned them down and told them, ‘No thanks.’”

During his senior year, Swanson had 21 carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns on offense, and on defense he had 10 sacks and 63 tackles while playing on the defensive line.
