Scarbrough likes Florida’s run game

 |  January 4, 2013  |  0 Comments

The Under Armour Combine features several of the nation’s top underclassman as they go through drills and events to showcase their talent.

Perhaps the combine’s most impressive recruit is 2014 running back and Alabama commitment Bo Scarbrough (Northridge/Tuscaloosa, Ala.). The 6-foot-2, 220-pound junior standout impressed onlookers with his muscular frame and next-level speed throughout the day’s events.

He received a lot of attention for a high school junior, but Scarbrough just focuses on staying humble and he realizes participating in the combine is a blessing.

“It’s a blessing to be here,” Scarbrough said. “First thing I just want to thank God for making it to this combine and getting invited. I think it’s a good combine and I’m doing well so far.”

The Tuscaloosa native has been an Alabama commitment since September, but Scarbrough said he plans on taking visits elsewhere, including an official visit down to Gainesville to see Florida.

“I’m going to take an official visit to Florida probably in the fall,” Scarbrough said. “I’ll also take official visits to Georgia, Notre Dame and maybe UCLA.”

When Will Muschamp was hired as coach at Florida, the Gators transitioned to a pro-style offense and a more downhill run game. It’s the physical run game that draws Scarbrough to Florida, because he feels it’s similar to how he plays the game.

“I’m attracted to Florida because of the run game,” Scarbrough said. “One of the main things I liked that they have is an extra tackle on the field to run the ball. They mostly are a downhill team and that’s what I’m looking for because I’m a downhill guy.

“Plus, I think Florida is a good team to play for.”

Although many would consider Scarbrough to already be the best running back in the 2014 recruiting class, he still believes there are things he can work on to be even better in the coming year.

“I feel like I still need to work on my footwork, because in college that’s what you’re going to need,” Scarbrough said. “So that’s what I’m going to work on during my senior season.”
