Revisiting the 2012 composite rankings
National Signing Day 2012 is now in the rearview mirror, and while there are still a couple prospects around the country that haven't decided where they're going, the majority of the 2012 recruiting class has found its new home. Florida is obviously still waiting for a big piece of the puzzle, with wide receiver Stefon Diggs not announcing his decision until Feb. 10.
However, with most of the rest of the signees making things official on national signing day last week, Gator Country is here to recap some of the action and tell you where everyone ended up. We take a closer look at our composite recruiting rankings to identify where the Top 385 players in the country landed.
Florida finished its 2012 signing class, pending the Diggs decision, with 15 signees ranked in the 2012 composite recruiting rankings. Only three programs in the country had more commitments on the composite, with Texas hauling in 21, Alabama 17 and Ohio State 16. Both LSU and Michigan matched Florida’s 15 signees.
Dante Fowler Jr.’s signing day switch helped the Gators vault past the in-state Seminoles in the amount of commits ranked in the composite, sending Florida to 15 while dropping Florida State to 13. Meanwhile, in-state rival Miami finished with nine commits ranked in the composite.
The Gators’ class was also fairly top heavy in the composite ranking, with six signees ranking in the Top 100 of the composite ranking. Only seven schools fielded more than five signees in the composite ranking, with Alabama leading the way with nine, Florida State, Stanford and USC each with seven, and Georgia and Texas joining Florida with six each. Miami finished with three signees in the Top 100.
In the SEC, Florida’s class trailed only Alabama’s in the composite rankings. Though LSU matched Florida with 15 overall signees ranked, the Tigers fielded just one Top 100 player to Florida’s six. And while Georgia matched Florida’s six Top 100 players, the Bulldogs had just 11 overall ranked signees as to Florida’s 15.
Below you can view tables on the most signees in the Gator Country composite rankings, the most in the Top 100 and a breakdown of how the SEC stacked up in the composite rankings. You can also view the complete updated composite ranking at the link below.
