RECRUITING: Still The Same Six For Little

 |  October 20, 2006

The door remains open for Chris Little, one of the most intensely pursued offensive linemen in the nation and a U.S. Army All-American. He's ranked number ten in the nation among all offensive linemen by Scout.com and this four-star player figures to be a cornerstone of the O-line recruiting class of the six schools that have made his final cut.

Recruiting is important, but right now, Little is trying to do his part to get Twiggs County (GA) into the state playoffs.

“We’re playing alright,” Little said of his Twiggs County football team’s season. “We’re 2-4 right now. But we still have four games left, and if we win every game we’ll be 6-4. If that happens, we’d win the regional title and get a spot in the playoffs.”

When he does pay attention to recruiting, it’s still the same six schools that have been after him for awhile that are on his favorite’s list.

“I’m looking at Notre Dame, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Michigan, and Clemson,” he said. “I’m still open to all of them.”

Florida offensive line coach John Hevesy is in charge of trying to reel Little in for the Gators.

“Coach Hevesy is recruiting me.” said Little. “He’s a great guy. I have a lot of fun when I get to talk to him. He tells me that he likes my wingspan a lot and that I could be very effective as an offensive tackle in their blocking system at Florida. He says I’m really aggressive.”

While the 6-5, 340-pounder may not have chosen one school from his list of favorites, he does know what will factor into the final decision.

“Playing time is definitely a big factor for me,” he said. “I want to play as soon as possible. I also want to make sure I go to a good place academically. The school I choose has to be a great fit for me as a team but also the school.”

Little has only been on just one official visit but plans on taking the rest of his visits in the near future.

“I already went on a visit to Notre Dame in September (Penn State game). I plan on going to LSU on November 18th (vs. Mississippi). I’ll probably go to Florida and Florida State sometime during December. I’m probably going to take my last visit to Clemson at sometime in January.”

Little originally had the timing of his commitment all planned out, but he’s done some thinking and his time frame might have to be adjusted.

“I may make my decision at the Army All American Game, but I’m not sure,” said Little. “My visit to Clemson will probably be after the game, so I may decide after the Clemson visit.”

The final decision is certain to be cause for celebration at one school, a source of heartache at the other six. Little is one of the best prospects in the country so getting his signature on the dotted line is a top priority.
