James Scott is continuing to prove himself as one of the best defensive backs in the state of Florida. At 5-10 and 170 pounds he is a hard hitter and his leadership has been key to a successful season for Daytona Beach Seabreeze. Here's the latest on what James has been up to:

The four star cornerback continues to show his team first mentality by playing where his coach needs him. “We beat Rockledge High School last week 35-13. I played pretty well. I’m still playing strong safety; we’re a little banged up at that position. I know a got some tackles last week, but I got my first sack of the season.”

One key reason for Scott’s lack of action in the secondary is the offenses the Seabreeze Sand Crabs have played. “We’ve been playing a lot of teams that run out of the Wing T formation, so we’re seeing a lot of running plays. I get to make more plays at strong safety against the run than if I were playing cornerback. We’ll play some passing teams soon and I will probably play cornerback against them.”

As far as recruiting, the 5’10”, 165 pound cornerback has not made any key changes. “I’m still looking at the same five, Florida, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, and Tennessee. The only change is that I’ll be in Alabama the 18th (of November) instead of the 4th. I’ll be going to LSU November 11th, and my last visit will be to Florida on December 2nd.”

Scott continues to stand firm on not making a decision in the near future. “I’ll probably make my final decision when I’m done with all my visits in December.”

“I didn’t get to watch most of the Florida/Auburn game. I saw clips from the first half, but didn’t get to see the ending.”

The big hitting corner did talk about a recent trip to the Swamp. “I took an unofficial visit to UF for the LSU game last weekend. I went with our quarterback. It was a good experience.”

“I didn’t get to talk to any coaches but I liked the atmosphere a lot. It was actually my first time seeing a game there in four years, so it was great. The place was really loud.”

James Scott continues to be pursued by many of the top schools in the nation. His cover ability and flair for the big hit is something any coach in the nation would gladly welcome to their defensive backfield. Gator Country will continue to follow Scott over the next months of his recruiting process.
