Recruit: ‘Florida is the swag school’
2014 Immokalee (Fla.) High receiver J.C. Jackson made his first trip to Gainesville this Saturday when the Gators hosted South Carolina.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Jackson is a Florida State commitment but after seeing Florida, the Gators moved up for him.
“I’m committed but keeping my options open,” Jackson said. “Florida State wants me at receiver, but Florida wants me at corner, and I want to play corner. The Gators are my second choice right now, and they moved up for me big time.”
This being Jackson’s first time to Florida he was able to see the facilities for the first time and see Florida in which he called the “Swag School.”
“It was a good visit,” Jackson said. “Florida is the swag school. The facilities are great, nice and big. I loved everything there. The weight room and the locker room stood out because they are huge.”
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium was loud on Saturday and Jackson could tell.
“The Swamp is nice,” Jackson said. “It was very loud and shaking. It was the loudest stadium I have ever been too. The fans man are crazy and they are true fans.”
As far as the game goes, Jackson focused on the defense and more importantly the corner backs.
“It was a good game, I thought it was going to be closer though,” Jackson said. “The defense played hard and didn’t want to lose. The corners were awesome and coach (Will) Muschamp showed a lot of intensity out there.”
After the game, Jackson was able to talk to three of Florida’s coaches in the locker room.
“I got to talk to coach Muschamp for a second,” Jackson said. “He shook my hand and asked how was and stuff. Coach Bush (Hamdan) and coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) both said they liked me a lot and they wanted to see at more games soon.”
Jackson said he will “most definitely” be back for a visit to Florida this year.
