RB A.J. Turman sees Gator Nation

 |  April 8, 2012  |  1 Comment

Running back A.J. Turman was one of many visitors on Florida’s campus on Saturday for the annual Orange and Blue game.

Most prospects rave about facilities or what they saw but for the Orlando, Fla. native, something else stood out to him while on his visit.

“I was impressed with how all of Florida’s players in the NFL come back,” Turman said. “I was able to talk to the Pouncey’s and Percy Harvin.”

This was the 6-foot, 205-pound running back’s first trip to Gainesville since last fall. .

“It was good to finally see Florida again,” Turman said. “It was a good game and everything is real nice at Florida.”

While the Boone prospect has been to Florida before, on this trip he noticed something new.

“I have been able to see the campus and everything before,” Turman said. “But this time I was able to see the weight room. It’s huge and one of the nicest I’ve seen. When I was in the weight room I was able to meet the strength coach.
He was wild and crazy.”

After taking the campus tour and talking to the coaches, Turman settled in to the Swamp to watch the Gators play.

The main thing Turman was looking for was how the running backs performed in the new offense.

“I thought Florida had a bunch of little running backs,” Turman said. “But they have some big guys that are power backs now. I liked the new offense though and I liked the play calling because they got the ball to the running back; me being a running back, it’s good for me.”

Florida has yet to extend an offer to Turman yet, but according to the coaches that could change soon.

“Coach (Brian) White and coach (Travaris) Robinson said they want me at Florida,” Turman said. “They said they are going to come look at me this spring during spring practice and they want me to get back to Florida to talk to them more since today was so busy.”
