Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy quarterback Max Staver was one of three official visitors this weekend for Florida.

The Florida Gators football commitment had been to Gainesville several times. He said this past weekend's trip reiterated how the University of Florida "has hot girls and good football."

“It was a very productive visit,” Staver said. “They treated me great. It was a good official visit. It was actually more than I expected and I can’t wait to get down there and be a student and a football player.”

This was the second straight week the 6-foot-5, 235-pound Staver was able to see the Florida offense in action.

“The offense is improving each week,” Staver said. “The defense is the backbone of the team right now. (Saturday) the defense created a lot of interceptions and that gave the offense a short field to work with. Anytime you get a short field the offense has to take advantage of it.”

Staver also was highly impressed with his future offensive coordinator the past two weeks.

“Coach (Brent) Pease has been throwing a lot of formations out there,” Staver said. “He has a lot of shifts in his offense and mixes up the playing-calling. The running game has been really good lately and the passing game is improving.”

Having fun was a major point of his official visit, but Staver also put in some work recruiting for Florida.

“All of us recruits were hanging out during the game,” Staver said. “I’m real close with Nick (Washington) and Jordan (Sherit) already. I got to meet Vernon (Hargreaves) for the first time, too. I also got to meet (Greg) Gilmore. He seems like a nice guy and I hope we can get him in the class.

“Overall, we are all close and brothers.”

Staver was by his high school teammate and USC commitment Jalen Ramsey, a 6-foot, 190-pound receiver, on the official visit to Florida.

“I don’t really push Jalen too much,” Staver said. “But I know him and his family really enjoyed the visit — I hope we can land him.”
