The Gainesville High Purple Hurricanes and Ocala Trinity Catholic Celtics helped to kickoff the 2009 high school football season on Thursday night at Citizens Field in Gainesville. It was a beautiful night for football, and there were a number of Gator connections to this game, starting on the sidelines. Former Gator quarterback John Brantley, Sr. is the head coach of the Celtics, and he is assisted by former Gator wide receiver Reidel Anthony. On the GHS sideline, the Purple Hurricanes quarterbacks are led by former Gator standout Shane Matthews, while the linebackers are mentored by former Gator linebacker Mike Nattiel.
