Now that the 2013 recruiting class is over the Gators are now turning their full attention to the Class of 2014.

But before the Class of 2013 was even over Florida offered St. Petersburg (Fla.) Catholic offensive lineman Reilly Gibbons.

“I was asked to call coach (Will) Muschamp,” Gibbons said. “He was still out recruiting 2013 players, so he was on a jet, but when I finally got a hold of him he was very nice and got to the point. He said, 'I love you Reilly and I like your ability and I'd like to offer you a scholarship and show you how much we want you.'”

One of the things the 6-foot-6, 270-pound likes about Florida and the program is offensive line coach Tim Davis.

“Coach (Tim) Davis does a great job,” Gibbons said. “Jon Halapio’s little brother goes to school with me and he tells me that Jon loves Florida. Coach Davis is good with helping you show off your athletic ability by letting the guard and tackles pull a lot.”

Over the last few weeks Gibbons has picked up several scholarship offers, including Florida and Ohio State to give him 25 total offers heading into the spring.

Gibbons isn’t sure of his plans but knows he will take some visits this spring, including one to Florida, and he will also participate in the Nike Football Training Camp in hopes of gaining an invite to the Nike Opening in Oregon next summer.

While Gibbons is picking up several football offers he also is a star basketball player and, according to his father, that has impressed college coaches.

“Several head coaches have come to watch Reilly play basketball,” Shannon Gibbons said. “They are all impressed by his ability to move at 6-foot-6. They have all said he is very athletic for his size.”
