LB Quanzell Lambert wants to visit UF

 |  July 24, 2011  |  0 Comments

Quanzell Lambert, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker from Sicklerville, N.J., hasn’t seen much time on the field this weekend, but he has more than 20 offers to back up his skills.

He was unable to attend Friday Night Lights at the University of Florida on Friday due to inclement weather.

“I was trying to make it yesterday, but my dad’s flight got delayed because of the thunderstorms so I was pretty upset about that,” Lambert said.

Although the linebacker wasn’t able to contribute much to the Midwest team at Gridiron Kings on Saturday, he said he still had fun.

“I didn’t really get to play,” he said. “I was just sitting out because I didn’t want to mess up anything and my leg was kinda tight.”

The rest of summer he plans to turn his attention to football and work on winning a championship during the school year.

He doesn’t have many visits arranged to colleges, but he will start to line up his official visits soon.

Friday Night Lights would have been the first time Lambert visited Florida.  He still plans to visit sometime soon even though the Gators offered late.

“I am definitely going to try and make it down there,” he said. “It is definitely a school I will look at.”

Beside a strong athletic program, coaching staff and team, the linebacker is interested in a school known for its academics.

“I want to be a mechanical engineer,” Lambert said. “I know engineering is going to be hard at a school just playing football also, so I want a school that is going to help me finish because I don’t want to change up my major.”

While Lambert is unsure of his top three schools, Bryce Treggs, a 5-foot-11, 170 pound wide receiver from Inglewood, Cal., had no hesitation in reaffirming his commitment to California.

With friends like Cayleb Jones and Conner Brew at Texas and running back Mike Davis, who is committed to Florida, Treggs has faced pressure to commit elsewhere, but not enough to get him to visit Florida anytime soon.

“I have about 20 offers but I’m not worried about that, I am committed to Cal, and I am solid with that,” Treggs said. “My dad played there, I could come in there and start as a freshman because they only have about four receivers on scholarship when I get there so competition is wide open and that’s all I ask for.”
