Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Day running back Kelvin Taylor didn’t work out at Friday Night Lights but he certainly made his presence felt.

During the one-day event the 5-foot-11, 216-pound Taylor was recruiting undecided players to join him on the Florida football team.

“I think I talked to about every big-time player there,” Taylor said laughing. “My goal is to get the best players to come to Florida with me.”

When he wasn’t recruiting he was with the rest of Florida’s commits on the sidelines.

“We were all just hanging out,” Taylor said. “We are all close so we were just having a good time. Everyone can’t wait to get to Florida in 2013 and start doing big things.”

Gator Country’s Andrew Spivey asked for members to give him questions to ask Taylor on Friday. The son of former NFL and Gators running back Fred Taylor respectfully answered most everyone’s questions and here are the answers:

Member: Are you planning on early enrolling at Florida?

Kelvin Taylor: Yes, I’m going to be enrolling at Florida in January.

Member: Do you think the high carries you have in High School will help you in college?

Kelvin Taylor: Yes, it’s a positive because my body is already use to carrying the ball a lot so I’ll be to carry the load if Coach wants me to.

Member: What’s his opinion on (Lake City OT Laremy) Tunsil’s recruitment? Does he think he will be a Gator? Why/Why not?

Kelvin Taylor: We need him badly — He is a great offensive lineman. I texted him the other (day), but I didn’t get a response from him.

Member: Prediction — do you think you will get a national championship at Florida?

Kelvin Taylor: Hopefully we got four of them, but we will definitely get two of them. That’s how great of a class we have.

Member: What jersey number will you wear?

Kelvin Taylor: Of course, No. 21. I have to keep the family tradition alive.

Member: How’s your offseason been?

Kelvin Taylor: It’s going great. I workout every Monday through Friday. I have gotten bench up to 335 pounds and I’m squatting 475 pounds. I have been working out with my dad and (Jacksonville Jaguars running back) Maurice Jones-Drew a lot.

Member: Who are you recruiting the hardest?

Kelvin Taylor: Tunsil. We all want him. Me and (fellow UF running back pledge) Adam Lane wouldn’t be nothing without good offensive lineman.

Member: What’s your 40 time and what is goal to get to?

Kelvin Taylor: Right now it’s a 4.5, but my goal is to get way faster like 4.3. My dad was running a 4.29 when he left Florida. But I’m working on getting mine better by pulling sleds and running up hills and stuff.

Nice Stuff Mr. Spivey, liked that item on Taylor.  Very excited to see this kid’s career at UF, hope he gets in a couple of those playoffs in his time.

This kid is a very savvy running back, has all those little moves to make guys miss, can’t wait to see how that translates to the next level.  Envision him to end up in the Mark Ingram mold, or the new Taylor mold.

Loved that tidbit on daddy running a 4.29 before he left the Gators, awesome.
