Florida is looking to add another linebacker or two in the Class of 2014 to go along with already committed linebacker Christian Miller.

One of the Gators top targets Montgomery (Al.) Carver linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton recently cut his list to 7.

“Yes sir I have a top 7 now,” Hamilton said. “In no order they are Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Tennessee, USC and UCLA. I feel comfortable with all of those schools and with the coaches there. I could see myself at any of those schools and my family is comfortable with those schools too.”

The 6-foot-1, 222-pound Hamilton visited Florida late last season and enjoyed the trip and conversation with the coaching staff.

“I went down there and fell in love with them,” Hamilton said. “Me and coach (Will) Muschamp had a good talk and he was different than the rest of the coaches I have met. My dad also talked to coach Muschamp and he really like him too. I just got a different vibe at Florida than I have gotten at the instate schools.”

Hamilton talks with new defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin once a week to keep in touch and continue to build a relationship.

“We have good talks,” Hamilton said. “He tells me that I can fit right into their defense at the Mike linebacker position like Jon Bostic did. I really liked the way Bostic played because he was fast and physical like I am.”

Now that Hamilton has cut his list, he is now planning to see some of the remaining seven schools before he decides.

“I’m going to make my final decision on April 17th,” Hamilton said. “I’m going to visit Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn and Florida before I make a decision. I may try to make it to Clemson but I’m not sure if I will have time.”

Even though Hamilton plans to make his decision, he says he will still take official visits and knows what will help him make a decision.

“I still want to take my officials this fall,” Hamilton said. “I’m looking for the school that best fits me. Distance is no factor at all.”
