GC brings fans the ‘Drive to 85’ live coverage

 |  January 31, 2012  |  0 Comments

Midweek work blues got you down? Hump day got you bummed? Or, or maybe you’re a football junkie and hoops season just doesn’t pump you up?

Well, Gator Country has your Florida Gators football fix and your cure for the midweek hump day blues. It’s time to cash in those sick days you’ll never use or that vacation time were saving for a trip to the in-laws and use it for something much more enjoyable: Gator Country’s “Drive to 85” coverage of National Signing Day.

Join us for the “Drive to 85” beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, as we give you the play-by-play of what figures to be among the Gators’ finest signing classes ever. The day is certain to be filled with plenty of drama as a number of top prospects remain undecided and will be announcing their college choices at various times throughout the day.

Our “Drive to 85” will feature real time updates on players as they fax their letters of intent to UF. We’ll provide inside information from GC recruiting analysts Andrew Spivey and Justin Wells, instant analysis of each prospect’s abilities and answer questions from members throughout the day. GC football beat writer Thomas Goldkamp is hosting the video chat and will tell fans where signees are expected to fit into the current team, thus “The Drive to 85.” That’s the number of scholarship players Florida coach Will Muschamp is building toward, and quite frankly, numbers have been down due to players departures for one reason or another in the wake of the former UF football coach leaving the program.

Coach Muschamp and his staff have hit the recruiting road harder than ever for his first full year of assembling a class. It’s already ranked among the top classes in the country, and could rise or fall depending on how many of the uncommitted prospects decide to sign with Florida.

Our “Drive to 85” coverage actually begins on Tuesday with an interactive text chat from 8-10 p.m. On Wednesday, we’ll kickoff coverage with another text chat from 7 -10 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., we’ll have an interactive video chat with Thomas Goldkamp, Justin Wells and others. Andrew Spivey will hang out in the text chat room to give updates and answer questions during that time, just in case you’re out of sick/vacation time and are stuck in an office where turning up the volume on the video chat could result in your boss questioning your commitment and yanking your scholarship.

At 3:30 p.m., we’ll break for coach Muschamp’s signing day press conference and follow it up with a GC-TV instant video analysis and highlights from the presser . Throughout the day, there also will be feature stories on the latest commitments, an up-to-the-minute list of signees with bios and, of course, the No. 1 forums in Gator Country to discuss, debate and post opinions on this newest crop of Gators.

We’ll wrap it all up with another text chat from 8-10 p.m. to review the “Drive to 85,” for our members who couldn’t find a good excuse to get out of going to work.

For those savvy enough to skip work, come spend the day with Gator Country … The “Drive to 85” is certain to be a wild ride!!!
