Houston (Miss.) High defensive end Chris Jones was one of the most impressive players in last week’s Under Armour All-American Game and practice.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Jones had showed all week that he was one of the top defensive ends in the country while going up against the top offensive linemen.

“I really enjoyed myself last week,” Jones said. “I met a lot of people during the week and learned a lot and I think I did well during practice and the game.”

Following his strong performance the Mississippi State commitment added a scholarship offer from another top school on Sunday.

“Coach (Will) Muschamp offered me today,” Jones said. “He said he liked the way I played and that I have an opportunity to play at Florida and he wants me to come there. He was telling me about the legacy that he is creating at Florida, how Florida has two BCS titles and they are creating another championship team there.”

On Friday at the team hotel Jones had the pleasure of meeting the Gators’ coaches for the first time and one coach in particular stood out to him.

“All of the Florida coaches are great guys,” Jones said. “I really liked coach (Bryant) Young, the defensive line coach at Florida. He has a good background and I like that. He was telling me about him playing in the league and about the guys he has coached and that I have potential to be a guy that plays in the NFL. That really stood out to me that he thought that about me.”

At this time Jones doesn’t have any visits planned but Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Clemson and Mississippi State are all possible to get a visit.

“I have to sit down and talk with my family before deciding on any visits first,” Jones said. “I really don’t know who I’m going to visit until after I talk with them.”

Jones said he is solid to Mississippi State at this time.
