With the Class of 2013 defensive class well on its way to being completed the Gators have began offering scholarship to top 2014 players.

Last Thursday, Chesapeake, Va., defensive tackle Andrew Brown picked up an offer from the Gators.

“Oh my goodness, what a day,” Brown said. “Coach (Bryant) Young was by my school and told my coach he wanted to offer me a scholarship to Florida.”

The 6-foot-4, 282-pound Brown has already racked in an impressive 14 scholarship offers.

“Florida’s offer was big — It was my first SEC offer,” Brown said. “So far, the big offers are Florida, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Ohio State and Clemson. “

The Indian River prospect does have a connection to the state of Florida with his grandfather and cousin living in the state.

“I usually stay with my grandfather for some of the summer in Florida,” Brown said. “I know I’ll be staying with him this summer some and will visit Florida while I’m down there with him.”

Brown doesn’t know much about the football program at Florida, but he is aware of one thing about the Gators.

“Powerhouse — all day,” Brown said. “They are always good.”

The defensive tackle can play both tackle and end and he is known for his speed and quick hands.

In just two seasons of varsity football, Brown has already collected 17 sacks and could have been more had it not been for a season-ending foot injury that cut his sophomore season short after only five games.
