Florida leads for FSU commit

Florida opened its first spring practice on Wednesday and also hosted a few unofficial visitors in Gainesville.

One of those visitors was Immokalee (Fla.) High cornerback J.C. Jackson who visited with his teammate Dee Johnson.

“It was a pretty good visit,” Jackson said. “I was just mainly trying to watch the defensive backs and see what things I could pick up on and stuff. I was watching Jaylen Watkins and Marcus Roberson a lot. Both of those guys stood out to me and had good practices.”

After watching practice, the Florida State commitment said he had a new leader in his recruitment and it wasn’t the Seminoles.

“Florida is my leader,” Jackson said. “I plan to visit Florida some more this spring. Coach (Will) Muschamp talked to me for a second after practice and he told me to come up to a practice again soon so he could see me.”

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Jackson spent much of practice watching the defensive back drills and also watching how Travaris Robinson was coaching that position.

“Coach T-Rob has a good style of coaching,” Jackson said. “I really liked his style. It was my first time seeing him in action and it was nice to see it.”

Jackson still has a whole another year of high school football left, but on Wednesday he got a taste of what a college practice is like.

“College practices are way different than high school practices,” Jackson said. “It was an intense practice and it was much faster than a high school practice. Everything goes by so quick and you’re constantly moving and there is no down time at all.”

This was Jackson’s second visit to Florida in as many months, as the cornerback also took part in Florida’s junior day that took place in February.

Great article Spivey. This is the second time I’ve heard him say we are his leader.  First, however, to hear him praise his future position coach in TRob. Two questions: (1) Is FSU still vascilating on where JC will play, WR, CB, or both:; and, (2) How soon to do you see JC making it official, decommiting from the enemy and joining Florida’s ‘14 class?
