This weekend, Florida hosted two visitors in a pair of teammates from Georgia, that number was down from last week’s big turnout for Junior Day.

One of the players in Gainesville was Carrollton (Ga.) High tight end Cole Cook who visited Florida for the first time on Saturday.

“I had a fantastic time,” Cook said. “I really really enjoyed my first visit to Florida. Everyone was very welcoming and glad to have me on campus today.”

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Cook has yet to receive an offer from Florida, but after Saturday he knows where he stands in regards to the Gators.

“They didn’t offer me today but it was a good visit,” Cook said. “Coach (Will) Muschamp said they really liked me and I was definitely on their radar. He told me that they had all the confidence in me to play at the Division I level.”

Overall, Cook really enjoyed his visit to Florida but one moment stood out to him.

“I liked the facilities and campus a lot, especially the campus,” Cook said. “My favorite of the trip was getting on the board and talking football with coach (Derek) Lewis the tight ends coach. It was a lot of fun.”

The coaching staff is a big reason this trip was a success in the mind of the junior tight end from the Peach state.

“I thought the coaching staff was an awesome staff,” Cook said. “They are great people as well as coaches. Florida was definitely my favorite visit so far of anywhere I have been to yet.”

Cook was accompanied on the visit by his teammate defensive tackle Dontavius Russell who holds an offer from Florida.

“He really enjoyed the visit as well as I did,” Cook said.
