Florida had all of its commitments on campus for the Class of 2013 except for one and that included Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep cornerback Tre Bell.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Bell boarded a plane for the trip down from New Jersey with his parents, brother and sister.

“The trip down was great,” Bell said. “It was kind of a short flight, like two hours. I just slept the whole time down (laughing).”

While Bell didn’t compete in Friday Night Lights he was still eager to go into The Swamp with the lights on.

“I just wanted to hang out with my guys,” Bell said. “We did some recruiting and stuff. We wanted to push the issue a little bit with some of those guys.”

This was the second visit for Bell to Florida. His first visit was during a UF Junior Day event, which was when he committed to the Gators.

“I was looking forward to visiting Florida since the day I left last time,” Bell said. “I just wanted to see how the campus was again and see everything. But more importantly just hanging out and picturing myself here for the next four years.”

Bell has been communicating with the rest of Florida’s commitments via text or Facebook and on Friday he was able to meet some of the guys he hadn’t met before in person.

“We are all really close,” Bell said. “We are constantly talking via Twitter or Facebook and we are already real close. We have a special bond already that can help us do something big in the future.”

When Vernon Hargreaves III committed on Thursday Bell had already had a relationship with him from The Opening in Oregon earlier this month.

“Getting Hargreaves was a really big pick-up,” Bell said. “Getting him makes us more dangerous. Great offense is always a great defense and I think that is what Vernon and I bring to the table. We should be able to shut both sides down on defense.”

Bell plans to take his official visit to Florida sometime this fall.
