Quarterbacking the prospect board

When Charlie Weis bolted from the offensive coordinator job at Florida for Kansas, speculation immediately cranked up about the effect it would have on recruits.

Weis’ offense and his four Super Bowl rings had helped to sell many of the top prospects on Florida, and things got shaky as Will Muschamp waited for weeks before hiring a new coach.

Though the Gators missed on a couple targets on offense on National Signing Day 2012, most notably Berkeley Prep wide receiver Nelson Agholor and Palm Beach Gardens offensive tackle Avery Young, new offensive coordinator Brent Pease has had a positive impact on recruiting.

“Brent does an outstanding job,” Muschamp said. “He's a really good football coach. He's a guy that knows what he wants within our philosophy of what we want to do offensively. We've identified those things. We have an outstanding recruiting staff, and he certainly has blended in well.”
