Big night for Silberman, Fleming Island

 |  October 17, 2009  |  1 Comment
King (Ga.) High School running back Mack Brown, who has given Florida a verbal commitment for the Class of 2010, was visited Friday by Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin and coordinator of recruiting Ed Orgeron, who both took a helicopter to the King-Stephenson game in Lithonia, Ga./Gator Country file photo by Tim Casey

Class of 2010 Florida verbal commitment Ian Silberman helped lead a strong performance up front as the Fleming Island Golden Eagles rolled to an early 21-0 lead against Hudson before going on to win, 42-14, in the school's homecoming game at Orange Park.

Silberman blocked well against an overmatched Hudson defense and even saw some time on defense at tackle in an effort to provide some beef in the middle for the Golden Eagle defense.

At Forrest High School, A.C. Leonard put on a clinic in the second half as the junior wide receiver/defensive end/linebacker recorded two sacks, two blocked punts and forced a fumble as Jacksonville Ribault rolled to a 44-7 victory over the host Forrest Rebels.  Defensive tackle Sam Goode also intercepted a screen pass, and ran it back 50 yards for a touchdown in the Trojans’ winning effort.

At Lithonia, Ga., despite a good 103-yard (on 19 carries) effort from Florida commitment Mack Brown, the King Lions (6-1) suffered their first loss of the season, 20-0, to league rival Stephenson (7-0) in a nationally televised game on ESPNU.  The clash of Georgia Region 2-AAAAA titans puts Stephenson firmly in the driver’s seat for a league title, while King still has a little work to do to ensure its postseason berth. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin and recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron helicoptered in for the game, and earlier in the day, Kiffin met Brown at King and shook his hand.

The announcer showed kiffen and oregon texting away on the sideline. a commercial came on net with herbstreit, meyer, fowler and des. meyer flashed his two national championship rings as his part of the commercial. the coach of the decade aces kiffen one more time without trying.
