Alexander possibly to visit Florida

 |  December 18, 2012  |  0 Comments

Florida has been looking for a second cornerback in the Class of 2013 for some time now to join verbal commitment Vernon Hargreaves II at the position.

One of the names thrown around since last spring is Immokalee (Fla.) High cornerback Mackensie Alexander.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound corner hasn’t been to Florida since spring, but that could change soon as the talented corner nears signing day in February.

“I will probably visit Florida in January,” Alexander said. “It will be an unofficial visit for me. I have already taken official visit to Texas A&M and Clemson, but I’m not ready to release the other schools (I plan to make officials to) yet.”

Alexander has a strong relationship with a pair of Florida assistant coaches, including the newest member of the staff.

“I like coach (Joker) Phillips,” Alexander said. “I’m happy for him to be at Florida. I also like coach (DJ) Durkin. Me and him had a good, serious talk a couple of weeks ago. Me and coach T-Rob (Tarvaris Robinson), we are getting a better relationship right now.”

Florida has turned the heat up on Alexander as he also talked with Will Muschamp recently.

“They have been recruiting pretty hard lately,” Alexander said. “Coach (Will) Muschamp called me a couple of weeks ago and we had a good talk. I don’t want to talk about what we talked about but he said he was happy to hear my voice. That’s all I want to say on that.”
