On the day of the SEC Championship game — a contest which won’t feature the Florida Gators for the third consecutive year — the air around Gainesville doesn’t seem to be filled with quite as much disappointment as in years past when the Gators were also watching from home.
Does the Gators’ absence still sting fans? Certainly it does.
But fans who didn’t have Florida even sniffing Atlanta, Ga. during this time of year — save for maybe the Chick-Fil-A Bowl (and that’s if they were lucky) — can’t help but to be proud of this team who in head coach Will Muschamp’s second year, is firmly back into the national conscience after a couple of years away from the spotlight.
