What Gators saw from LSU

Florida Gators coach Will Muschamp and his staff have to be excited by what they saw out of LSU last Saturday. / Gator Country photo by Curtiss Bryant.

With the Florida Gators coaches and players off this weekend, some must-see TV was not 'Friends', but rather next week’s opponents, the LSU Tigers. Coach Les Miles’ Bayou Bengals were slated to whoop up on lower-tiered FCS opponent Towson in a home tune-up before moving into the brunt of the team’s SEC schedule.

Despite the name on the front of the jerseys (read: Not ‘Bama, Florida, Georgia, etc.) as the teams entered college football’s fifth weekend, 92,154 were on hand for what was sure to be a drubbing. However, the nation as a whole and Gator Nation, including Florida’s players and coaches, have to be encouraged by what they saw from the comfort of their respective couches. For the second straight week, the No. 3-ranked Tigers underwhelmed in winning 38-22. After barely pulling out a 12-10 victory at Auburn in the squad’s previous time out, JUCO transfer quarterback Zach Mettenberger and his teammates struggled for the second straight week. The Tigers were once again taken to the brink against a team most around the country figured should not have even been on the same field as LSU.
