With mere weeks left in Florida’s season, the Gators coaches would rather not think about their placekicking future beyond Caleb Sturgis.
Though capable replacements in freshman Austin Hardin and junior Brad Phillips wait in the wings to kick for Florida next year, Sturgis has simply been one of the UF football program’s most productive special teams player in school history.
In his five years at Florida, Sturgis hit 69 of his 87 field goal attempts, breaking an 11-year career record held by Jeff Chandler.
