UF Football Notes: Vandy preparations

While the Florida defense may have avenged an embarrassing outing against LSU last year with a dominant performance en route to a 14-6 victory on Saturday, the unit will again be looking to redress a discomfiting appearance from last season when they travel to Nashville to square off with the Vanderbilt Commodores this weekend.

Unlike their contest with LSU last season, the Gators emerged victorious from their matchup with the ‘Dores. However, the Gators narrowly escaped their homecoming weekend with a win, edging out Vandy 26-21 — allowing all of the Commodores’ scores to come in the second half.

Second half points have been a rarity for opponents this season, as the Gators have given up a grand total of 13 in five contests. Under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, the Gators’ veteran group of defenders has seemingly lived up to their high preseason expectations. On Wednesday, Quinn met with the media to discuss his outstanding unit, and how they plan to handle the challenge Vanderbilt and its quarterback Jordan Rodgers will present to the Commodores at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
