UF announces student promotions surrounding 2011 Orange & Blue Debut

With the Florida football team’s 2011 Orange & Blue Debut a little over a week away, the University Athletic Association’s Marketing Department has announced two exciting University of Florida student promotions surrounding the event. Gator football’s annual spring game will be held at noon on Saturday, April 9, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

2011 Student T-Shirt Design Contest – Submissions Due By Noon on April 5

The University Athletic Association is proud to announce that Pepsi’s annual “Design the Football Student Section T-Shirt” contest is back for its fifth consecutive season. Beginning Tuesday, March 29, UF students will be given the chance to design the 2011 Football Student Ticket Holder T-shirt. The final day to submit a design will be Tuesday, April 5, at Noon.

The 2011 Football Student Ticket Holder T-shirt grand prize winner will have his or her design on the Football Student Section T-Shirt and will also win a cash award of $250 and the choice of a 2011 student season ticket or a ticket to the Florida-Georgia game. The first runner-up will receive a $125 cash prize and the second runner-up will take home $75.

The three finalists will be announced at the annual Orange & Blue Debut on Saturday, April 9 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and students will be able to vote for their top choice beginning Monday, April 11 until Friday, April 22. Voting will take place in conjunction with the student season football lottery registration which will open at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 11. Complete details regarding the student season football lottery registration process will be sent to all students on Friday, April 1.

Design submissions may not exceed five colors, must be square and no smaller than 1’ x 1’ and no larger than 2’ x 2’. The files must be in jpeg or eps format and cannot exceed 5 MB in size. Inaugural Orange & Blue Debut Punt, Pass and Kick Challenge

The Florida Football program and the University Athletic Association, Inc (UAA) will be holding the inaugural Orange & Blue Debut Punt, Pass and Kick challenge for University of Florida students next week at the Sanders Practice Football Fields. The competition is free of charge and will take place on Thursday, April 7 at 5 p.m. The competition will be a three round format with the quarter-finals and semi-finals taking place on Thursday and the finals being held prior to the Orange & Blue Debut, presented by Scotts, on Saturday, April 9. Following the quarter-final competition the top five from the male and female division will advance to the semi-finals with the top two semi-finalists advancing to the finals. Registration will take place on the day of the event, starting at 4 p.m. and UF students will need to provide a valid Gator1 I.D., a copy of their health insurance card and sign a release of liability in order to participate.

Punt, Pass and Kick Challenge Schedule of Events:
Thursday, April 7th – Sanders Practice Football Fields

4 PM – Registration
5 PM – 6:30 PM – Quarter-finals
6:30 PM – 7 PM – Semi-finals

Saturday, April 9th – Finals @ Florida Field @ Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
10:45 AM – 10:55 AM – Finals

Regulations
— All equipment, other than shoes, needed for the competition, is provided by the UAA. Participants may not utilize their own equipment (such as tees or footballs). No practice rounds will be held.

Advancement
— The top five finishers in each of the male and female divisions will advance to the semi-final round. The top finisher is the participant who has the highest final score for that round.
— At the semi-finals and finals, each competitor will begin anew with a score of zero. Only the top two first-place finishers from the male and female divisions will advance to the finals.
— At the finals, each competitor begins anew with a score of zero. The top finisher within the male and female division will be named 2011 Gator Punt, Pass & Kick Champion.

Prizes
1st Place: $100 Gator SportShop Gift Card (male and female winner)
2nd Place: $25 Gator SportShop Gift Card (male and female winner)
