Two Sides: Florida hybrid Trey Burton
As part of a new series, Gator Country columnist Dan Thompson will offer two sides of a story, player, coach, etc. and allow readers to make the call for which argument is stronger.
Junior wide receiver/running back/tight end/fullback/quarterback hybrid Trey Burton out of Venice, FL had his name called early in his career. During his freshman year, Burton started 11 games on offense and on special teams, earning a spot on the All-SEC Freshman team. During his second season, Burton started seven games, appearing in 13 games.
However, simply saying Burton’s name stirs a debate amongst Gators fans about his role in the offense and only two very polar views exist. One side believes that Burton brings versatility and creates a mismatch for opposing defenses. Antithetically, the other side believes that Burton has been mediocre, at best, and is hindering other offensive players.
Below, I will offer two opposing sides on Trey Burton’s role and threat on offense.
