It’s been a decade since Steve Spurrier abruptly retired from Florida to pursue his NFL interests and seven years since he agreed to try and help out the star-crossed South Carolina program.
On Saturday, Spurrier — for the fourth time — will lead his No. 9 ranked Gamecocks into the stadium of which he gave its now trademarked nickname.
Despite whatever mixed bag of feelings fans may have towards Spurrier at this point, there is no doubting his presence is still felt in the program he undoubtedly helped build.
