The Gator News and World Report: Florida ahead for Razorbacks; Petrino making adjustments for Florida; Doe out for Arkansas, Hogs Begin Florida Preparations and more...

Ole Miss’ fifth D-back was the first to Tebow OXFORD - Freshman defensive back Marcus Temple made the biggest hit by an Ole Miss defender in at least four years, even if he didn’t know exactly who he was hitting for.

Father’s pride has nothing to do with QB’s stats They were both students at Western Seminary in Portland, Ore., but after church and lunch on Sundays, they would meet on a field, pick sides and play touch football until they were exhausted.

Razorbacks report Hogs try to keep spirit high FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas players are determined to show they’re a better team than the one that has taken two consecutive beatings.

Nov. 1 still huge for Dawgs, Gators Nobody asked me but:
1. Nov. 1 could still mean everything for Dawgs, Gators: In the fallout from Georgia’s loss to Alabama and Florida’s loss to Ole Miss, I got a few e-mails from folks who said that some of the shine had between taken off the Nov. 1 game between the Bulldogs and Gators in Jacksonville.

Florida ahead for Razorbacks Just some easy steps the Razorbacks can take to answer their offensive questions heading into Saturday’s 11:30 a.m. Raycom-televised SEC game with 12th-ranked Florida at Frank Broyles Field at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Tide best halfway through With the halfway mark of the 2008 college football season squarely in our sights, Vanderbilt and Kentucky are among the SEC’s four undefeated teams and preseason top-5 powers Georgia and Florida are not. Some superlatives from the first five weeks of SEC play:

Upsets send polls into tailspin What a crazy weekend it was in the zany world of football. It all started on Thursday night when the Trojans of Southern California took their arrogance to Corvallis, Ore., and got whacked by a giant Beaver tail.

Gators move focus to Arkansas GAINESVILLE— No. 12 Florida seems caught between wanting to remember and trying to forget Saturday’s loss to Mississippi.

Gators’ Biggest Names Aren’t Touching the Ball Much During the preseason, Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen said the Gators’ spread offense is at its best when the ball is being evenly distributed to its many playmakers.

Old Rebel mentality fading fast under Nutt Houston Nutt will be the first to tell you he inherited a slew of talent when he became the football coach at Ole Miss.

Petrino making adjustments for Florida FAYETTEVILLE - Florida’s loss to Ole Miss keeps the Razorbacks from facing their third top-10 opponent in a row. The Gators are 12th in this week’s AP rankings.

Gator LB Doe will be out for two weeks GAINESVILLE — Florida linebacker Dustin Doe will have surgery today for a double hernia and will miss at least the next two games. The Gators will play at Arkansas on Saturday, host LSU the following week then have an open date.

Doe out for Arkansas The injury news has worsened for No. 12 Florida. Coach Urban Meyer said after Tuesday’s practice that junior linebacker Dustin Doe will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair a double hernia and will be out for the next two weeks. The injury arose during the Miami game and was reinjured in both the Tennessee and Mississippi games.

Gators without starting LB Doe GAINESVILLE - Another Florida football starter is out with an injury.

Disappearing Depth For Gators GAINESVILLE - This is Jason Watkins’ vision: “Get on the line and go straight downfield. Just block somebody. You don’t have to worry about moving them around. Just knock them off the ball and run. And it would not matter who is carrying the ball, because the hole is so big anybody could run through it.”

Injury Bug Continues To Plague Gators GAINESVILLE - The Gators haven’t escaped the injury bug just yet.Hogs Begin Florida Preparations The Razorback football team returned to the practice fields behind Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Tuesday afternoon as it began its on-field preparations for the12th-ranked Florida Gators.
