The Gator Country Picks: Week 10

 |  November 4, 2011  |  0 Comments

Our leaderboard got a huge shakeup last week after Pincus the Penguin waddled onto a handful of shocking winners.

We've got to give a shoutout to StuckUpNorthGator, who fell out of the overall lead for the first time this week. Here's to him downing the Penguin.

Today our resident "experts" and four much smarter subscribers pick each SEC and Top 25 game on the schedule in a little friendly competition.

Surprisingly, the most split game was No. 25 Southern Miss vs. East Carolina. Four of us liked East Carolina to win that one.

In the marquee Top-10 games, only two of us picked LSU over Alabama and South Carolina over Arkansas. Without wasting any more ink, let’s get you right into our thoughts.

Adam Pincus

I must have hit my head sometime during the week.

The Texas Tech team that upset Oklahoma shows up this Saturday and defeats No. 21 Texas in a shootout. Leading Longhorns receiver Jaxon Shipley hurt his knee against Kansas last week, but should be good to go.

Saturday gets better for road teams from Texas. I am picking Texas A&M on the road to knock off No. 6 Oklahoma who lost its star running back Dominique Whaley for the season.

Of course the game of the week is No. 1 LSU visiting No. 2 Alabama. Alabama rides its Heisman Trophy candidate Trent Richardson to victory. Crimson Tide linebacker Courtney Upshaw destroyed Florida in week five and will make his presence felt against the Tigers.

Last pick is an improving Louisville offense leading the Cardinals to victory in Morgantown versus No. 24 West Virginia. Former Northwestern High School quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has the signature win of his freshman year.

Justin Wells

So, clearly I’m not good at the whole “making picks” process. This week, I resorted to using a dart board to making my picks...three hours later, and now with a wall of my apartment full of holes, hopefully this week turns out a little better for me.

Tim Casey

My picks always seem to go wrong, so I’m taking Vanderbilt in the hopes that my jinx can be used to lift the spirits here in Gainesville.

I’ve been torn about the Alabama-LSU game for a month. I’ll take Alabama to win a close game, but only because the game is in Tuscaloosa.

Thomas Goldkamp

Well, Adam took a huge lead over me last week, so I’m hanging my head in shame here. I need a miracle comeback for the win, so I’m picking Florida to cover the spread against Vanderbilt. Gators get it done on homecoming.

Les Miles eats all the grass in Tuscaloosa in a huge win over Alabama, furthering the mystery that is Les Miles. For some reason, I like South Carolina over Arkansas and Kentucky over Ole Miss. Live or die by the SEC, baby!

Derek Tyson

There are some good games in the SEC this week. I’ll take Florida over Vandy in a close one, ‘Bama over LSU, and Arkansas over South Carolina.

Andrew Spivey

The big one this week is Alabama vs. LSU. I will take Alabama because the Tide are playing at home.

Below is each of our 10 experts’ picks.

AP – Adam Pincus, AS – Andrew Spivey, DT – Derek Tyson, JW – Justin Wells, TC – Tim Casey, TG – Thomas Goldkamp, pk – pkaib01, ch – chrisleakfan4life, St – StuckUpNorthGator, CF – CFLrob
