The Will Muschamp era at Florida opened on Saturday against Florida Atlantic with a 41-3 win for the Gators at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Chris Rainey became the first UF player to have a TD run, reception and return in the same game. Rainey had 84 rushing yards and six catches for 67 yards. Jeff Demps added a pair of touchdown runs on 111 rushing yards.

Solomon Patton blocked a punt that Rainey scooped up for his third touchdown of the game.

Caleb Sturgis kicked a pair of field goals, from 51 and 29 yards, to bookend the Gators’ scoring.

UF redshirt senior quarterback John Brantley threw for 229 yards, while freshman Jeff Driskel completed 4-of-6 passes for 42 yards.

The Florida offense did not allow a sack and did not punt.
