ShareCoaches Preseason All-SEC teams
As expected, Florida’s defense is receiving much more preseason love than its offense.
The Southeastern Conference released its Coaches Preseason All-SEC team on Thursday. While eight Florida Gators football players earned recognition, UF did not have any representatives on the first-team offense or defense.
Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis did make the first-team specialists. The Gators’ defense, which finished eighth nationally in total defense in 2011, placed three players — defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd, inside linebacker Jon Bostic and defensive back Matt Elam — on the second team and two players — defensive lineman Dominique Easley and inside linebacker Jelani Jenkins — on the third team.
